Sketch Time

Sketching is a type of drawing that is done completely executing a freehand style that is not usually intended as a finished work. I use to create initial representations of my final oil paintings. I also draw or paint preliminary ideas for a work in a short of artist notes and eventually I be realized with greater precision and detail.  In some cases, however, I create final pieces, just by sketching.

The majority of my sketches are created with pencils, with varying degrees of hardness (normally I prefer between 2H and 8B. Softer graphite (2H, F) typically leaves lighter lines and marks, which erase well. Harder graphite, on the other hand, usually leaves darker lines, and it tends to not erase easily. This type of graphite is best for creating shading and depth in drawings.

These “croquis” help me to develop my own style, and there are a show of my vision of world
